40A mppt controller. The good and the bad.

Overall very pleased with this controller, I was drawn to the easy to read display, I can see at a glance how my panels are producing and how my batteries are absorbing.

It’s a plug and play unit, push and hold a button, select battery type and away you go. You can download the app for the bt module, for more settings and see your power production/consumption for the previous year.

Build quality is extremely good, the case is made out of aluminium so the whole unit is a heat sink, great heat dissipation.

BUT…
the terminals. The unit has to be removed to gain access to the terminal screws, they are on the rear of the unit! So if you’re doing a lot of testing, it’s very tedious removing it every time. And also it would be nicer to have some nice and beefy terminals in there. The 24v version can handle 1120W of power, always go with biggest possible cable, unfortunately this unit can’t take that size cable in the connector blocks.

But over all, for the price it’s pretty hard to find a better unit, bought via eBay sale with discount for £75.

I'm just in the middle of re-cabling my array of solar panels to a triple bank of Eco-worthy 280ah batteries, one of which was Bluetooth enabled, so I could monitor the charge level remotely. The Bluetooth pairing works but the adding of the information to my internet does not connect. I have sent a help request to your contact desk on the 20th Aug to [****]. I'm still awaiting an outcome from that.
I'm apprehensive as to how the Bluetooth module will work when I set it up in the near future?
